Configure AI providers and assign models to features.
Dial8 supports multiple AI providers, letting you choose between cloud-based models for maximum capability and on-device models for privacy and speed.
Supported Providers

Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models)
Runs locally on your Mac. No API key needed. Requires macOS 26.0+ with Apple Intelligence enabled. Best for lightweight tasks like note summarization, transcription cleaning, and text rewriting.
Claude (Anthropic)
The primary cloud AI provider. Available models:

Feature-to-Model Mapping
You can either use the same model for all AI features (simpler) or customize which provider handles each feature:

Configuration
- Go to Settings > AI Models
- Select your default provider
- Optionally toggle "Customize per feature" for granular control
- Enter API keys for cloud providers (stored securely in Keychain)
Apple Intelligence features are completely free and private — processing happens on-device. Cloud providers require an internet connection and may incur usage costs.
