Dial8's universal search lets you find anything across all your data — projects, notes, tasks, goals, and contacts — from a single search bar.
Opening Search
Press Cmd + K from anywhere in the app to open the search overlay.
Search Modes
Toggle between modes with the Tab key:
Regular Search
Fast text-based search across all content types. Results appear instantly as you type.
AI Semantic Search
Uses AI-powered vector search to find content by meaning, not just keywords. Results include similarity percentage scores and relevant text excerpts.
AI semantic search finds notes even when you don't remember the exact words used. Search for "that meeting about the product launch" and it will find relevant notes.
Filtering
Use filter chips to narrow results by content type:
- Projects — Project names and descriptions
- Notes — Note content, summaries, and transcripts
- Actions — Task titles and descriptions
- Goals — Goal names and milestones
- Contacts — Contact names and details
Multiple filters can be active simultaneously.
Navigation
- Arrow keys — Move through results
- Enter — Open the selected result
- Escape — Close search
- Tab — Switch between regular and AI search
Clicking a result navigates directly to that item — opening the relevant project, note, task, goal, or contact view.
Recent Searches
The search overlay shows your recent queries for quick replay.
